About Me
I guess I'm one of the lucky few who actually enjoys his job, but I have a wide range of interests away from the computer screen.
My prime interest is playing rugby and I have been extremely lucky in that the game has allowed me to travel. I have just returned from a three month stint in the US playing for Park City in Utah, and I am shortly to depart for Ireland where I hope to play for Rathdrum for a season. I enjoy all aspects of the game from playing to spectating to coaching to discussing ad nauseam over a beer in the pub!
Music is an important part of my life and there's always a pile of CDs by my work station. I listen to a pretty diverse range of music encompassing everything from punk to jazz with even a bit of classical in there somewhere. I also enjoy playing and composing music. I primarily play the guitar although I have played the drums in the past. I have performed in a number of bands and whilst at University I recorded an album with a housemate.
Although I can live without TV, I do enjoy cinema - however, I'm not a fan of the typical Hollywood movie. My interests lean more toward independent cinema particularly from European filmmakers. I am also interested in the film-making process and have even written a movie script of my own which is destined never to see the light of day (I said I wrote it - I didn't say it was any good).
My recent trip to the US has rekindled my love of travelling and my desire to visit new places and experience new cultures. I am pretty well travelled through Europe with France being my favourite. I would like to visit Eastern Europe and New Zealand, although I think rugby holds some influence there!
